Bi-stable (latching / memory) solenoid valves stay in the last commanded position without continuous coil current. A short pulse (typically 30ms) is enough to flip the valve state, saving power and allowing battery operation. Used in remote / IoT pneumatic control, medical devices and battery-powered systems.
